Power BI enthusiasts, we just wrapped up an exhilarating data visualization contest leading up to the Microsoft Fabric Community Conference. Over the course of four weeks, we identified four talented finalists to take the stage in Las Vegas to compete for the title of World Champion.
The Power BI DataViz World Championships consisted of four qualifying rounds, each with a unique theme and dataset. Participants showcased their skills in data visualization, creating stunning and insightful reports using Power BI. Each week, one winner was selected based on creativity, clarity, insightfulness, and accessibility.
Our four finalists, Javier, Jon, Santhanalakshmi, and Injae impressed the judges with their exceptional submissions. Javier’s compelling data story about marriage and divorces in Sonora, Mexico, Jon’s creative designs about the US National Parks, Injae’s interactive basketball cards, and Santhanalakshmi’s visualization on the effects of climate change stood out among hundreds of entries.
In the grand finale, held at the Fabric Community Conference in Las Vegas, participants had 20 minutes to build their entries live on stage in front of hundreds of people and four distinguished judges. The atmosphere was electric as each finalist demonstrated their expertise in real-time, under the pressure of the clock.
We are thrilled to announce that Jon Sandmann emerged as the World Champion with his inspiring visualization on OECD Wellbeing Data. His ability to combine data storytelling with impactful design truly set him apart. Check out our Fabric Community post to learn more about Jon’s report!
Congratulations to all participants for their incredible efforts and creativity. Stay tuned for more exciting events and opportunities to showcase your Power BI skills!
