Power BI Gateway – February Update

Headshot of article author Dimah Zaidalkilani

With Power BI gateways, you can keep your data fresh by connecting to on-premises data sources. The gateways provide the flexibility you need to meet individual needs, and the needs of your organization.

Today, I am pleased to announce our latest update to the Power BI gateway for enterprise deployments.

This month’s update builds on the functionality we released when we announced general availability of the enterprise gateway, and includes the following enhancements:

  • Live connection support for Oracle and Teradata
  • Scheduled Refresh for all previously supported data sources except Analysis Services and Blank Query based reports. This includes: SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, Sybase, SAP HANA, OData, Web, Files and Folders on-premises, and SharePoint list on-premises

Please note if you are using the Analysis Services Connector

As we mentioned in the post announcing General Availability of Power BI Gateway for enterprise deployments, we have stopped downloads and configuration of Analysis Services connector. The existing Analysis Services connectors are planned to be supported until Mar 31, 2016.

We published an upgrade guide for current users of Analysis Services Connector to help you upgrade your existing reports and dashboards. Please take a moment to upgrade your Analysis Services connectors to use the Power BI gateway (Enterprise) instead.

That’s all for this update. We hope that you find these features valuable and continue sending us feedback for how to make Power BI gateways even better. Please don’t forget to vote for other features that you would like to see in Power BI gateways in the future.

Also, feel free to send us your questions or feedback directly to and join the conversation at the Power BI Community.
