Detect upload of sensitive information to Power BI using Microsoft 365 data loss prevention policies

Today we’re happy to announce that we’re extending Microsoft 365 DLP policies for Power BI to support detection of uploading sensitive information such as social security and credit card numbers, leveraging Microsoft’s built-in sensitive information types and/or custom information types defined by your organization in the Microsoft 365 compliance center.

Update to required permissions when using composite models on a Power BI dataset

The ability to create a composite model on top of a Power BI dataset or an Azure Analysis Services model is in preview since December 2020. Since then, we have seen great adoption of this feature and have received great feedback that allowed us to make it even better! The team has been hard at work readying the feature for general availability, and although we are not announcing that today, we have great news to share regarding permissions.

Today we’re announcing that for the 15th consecutive year Microsoft has been positioned as a Leader in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms. We’ve also been positioned furthest to the right for Completeness of Vision and highest in the Ability to Execute within the Leaders quadrant for the 4th consecutive year.

Announcing general availability of service principal profiles in Power BI Embedded

I’m happy to announce a new method that allows a much larger number of customer tenants per one service principal by introducing a service principal “child” named service principal profile. Each service principal profile can administer a customer tenant, and the number of profiles per service principal can reach hundreds of thousands.
