These workshops and classes are available to our partners and community leads for free to help them train their customers and communities on Power BI.

Every class will include all materials—presenter deck, demo scripts, step-by-step hands-on lab, dataset, and other content.
Dashboard in a Day (DIAD)
DIAD is a one-day, hands-on workshop for business analysts, covering the breadth of Power BI capabilities.
At the end of the day, attendees will better understand how to:

Connect and transform data from a variety of data sources.

Define business rules and KPIs.

Explore data with powerful interactive visuals.
-
Build stunning reports.
-
Share their dashboards with their team business partners and publish them to the web.
Content is offered in nine languages—Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese-Simplified (Mandarin), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.

Advanced Visualisation with Power BI
Prerequisites—DIAD training or equivalent working experience
This one-day course will cover Power BI report layouts and structure the agile process to creating Power BI data visualisations. It will help attendees to understand the art behind visualisations, the implications behind choosing the right charts, the impact of colour, shape, and size, and finally the use of Power BI custom visuals. The course includes various design patterns of dashboards and reports, as well as best practices for authoring great reports and dashboards for business users.

Advanced Data Modelling and Shaping with Power BI
Prerequisites—DIAD training or equivalent working experience
This one-day course will cover using Power BI Desktop to import and shape data from a variety of sources. It will also walk through Power BI capabilities you can use to enhance the data model for your business users. The course covers key aspects of how to create a great data model to meet your business needs, various features in Power BI used to enhance data models so you can build great reports, and an introduction to DAX to create calculations.
After completing this training, the attendees should be able to import data from a variety of data sources into Power BI, shape the data, create the data model, and write DAX functions to the Power BI model.

DAX in a Day
Prerequisites—DIAD training and Advanced Data Modelling and Shaping training or equivalent working experience
This course has been designed specifically for experienced model developers. We recommend that attendees have prior experience working with Power BI Desktop to create data models.
During this course you will review:
- Writing DAX formulas.
- Defining calculated tables and columns.
- Defining measures.
- Using DAX iterator functions.
- Modifying filter context.
- Using DAX time intelligence functions.
After completing this training, the attendees should be able to work with Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), perform calculations and define common business calculations for use in reports, address performance and functionality concerns.

Administrator in a Day
Prerequisites—DIAD training or equivalent working experience
This one-day course will walk attendees through the Microsoft Power BI administration and the management of a Power BI tenant, including the configuration of tenant settings, usage monitoring, and provisioning of licences, as well as other organisational resources.
It covers the typical admin tasks and tools, such as Power BI admin portal and Office 365 admin centre, and how to automate them by using administrative APIs and PowerShell cmdlets. Specific hands-on labs will focus on using Premium capacity in Power BI, safely sharing Power BI assets, and using the Power BI audit log to optimise Power BI usage.

Paginated Reports in a Day
The Power BI Paginated Reports in a Day will walk attendees through the technical knowledge required to create, publish, and distribute Power BI paginated reports. The training can be conducted virtually or in a classroom. Access the self-paced online training. The training requires an access to premium account and downloading the Power BI Paginated Report Builder.
The course covers these topics:
- Design report layouts.
- Connect to data sources to retrieve report data.
- Work with parameters.
- Visualise report data.
- Add interactive features.
- Publish, consume, deliver, and embed paginated reports.

Developer in a Day
Prerequisites—Software Development fundamentals, DIAD or equivalent working experience
The Power BI Developer in a Day course will empower attendees with the technical knowledge required to embed Power BI content. This course is designed specifically for experienced app developers, and familiarity with front-end coding is an advantage. Access the full online training.
The course covers these topics:
- Acquire access using Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) apps and tokens.
- Work with the Power BI REST API.
- Embed Power BI content in your apps.
- Integrate Power BI content in your apps using the Power BI JavaScript API.
- Enforce row-level security (RLS) to ensure app users see the right data.
- Choose the right licence to suit your requirements.

Modern Excel Analyst in a Day
Modern Excel Analyst in a Day is a one-day workshop for analysts. It demonstrates the advanced capabilities available in Excel, explores how Excel and Power BI are best used together, and shows how to successfully work with them in Microsoft Teams and SharePoint online.
At the end of the day, attendees will better understand:
- Analytics in Excel.
- Mapping analytics in Excel to Power BI—Compare Excel and Power BI desktop.
- Additional Power BI capabilities.
- How Power BI and Excel are better together.
- Using Power BI and Microsoft Teams.

Leap into Power BI
Prerequisites—One year of Tableau experience.
Leap into Power BI is a one-day introduction for data analysts, developers, and engineers currently using Tableau, showing them how to achieve the same functionality in Power BI. The course contains presentations and labs.
At the end of the day attendees will better understand:
- What is Power BI?
- Data connectivity and transformation in Power BI.
- How to perform calculations in Power BI.
- Organising and simplifying data.
- Visualisation.
- Analytics.
