Dissatisfied with the standard visuals and analysis from the Strava app? Then Power BI is the answer. By creating a custom connector for the Strava API we can bring all workouts into a Power BI Report and investigate our performance however we like.
The Summary Page is a dashboard that monitors progress against targets for Distance and Pace for the current week, as well as the variance to last week. Trend lines for these measures then show how close we have been to our goal over the last 12 weeks, and the bar charts show how many times each distance has been run and the average pace by distance. Hovering over the Average Pace bar chart displays a scatter chart of Heart Rate vs. Pace for all runs of the selected distance.
At the bottom there are secondary measures such as Speed, Heart Rate, Elevation Gain all with variances to last week and trend lines, and finally the dashboard shows how far we have run with each pair of running shoes.
The Activity page let's us explore each run in more detail and view how they compare to other runs of a similar distance. The panel on the left shows the Distance, Start Time, Moving Time in seconds, and the shoe we ran with, as well as a point-to-point map of the route.
On the right we can view how the chosen run ranks against all other runs of a similar distance with comparisons against the average Pace, Heart Rate, Speed, Elevation Gain, and Cadence.
