Microsoft Senior Program Manager Christian Berg is back with another entry in his series on becoming your organization’s strategic advisor with Machine Learning and Power BI. In part 6, he lookd at connecting to an Azure ML Studio experiment with an Rviz and then building on that to create a dynamic report to explore cross price elasticities. He also looks at a simpler example where we instead use DAX to explore the impact of different discount percentages, based on an assumption about our elasticity.
Today, I’m happy to announce that Esri is taking ArcGIS Maps for Power BI to the next level by introducing Plus, a subscription service available for purchase from Esri that allows everyday business users in Power BI to do more with their spatial data. What is Plus? In a word: More. More basemaps, more data points, more demographics, more reference layers. It’s a step in our journey to make GIS easy to understand and consume for regular business users. Plus is inspired by many of the feature requests you have made since we introduce ArcGIS Maps for Power BI.

Timeline Storyteller, a new custom visual for Power BI I created with a team of other researchers at Microsoft, is now available in the Office Store for anyone to use. Power BI is a powerful data storytelling tool, and with Timeline Storyteller, data journalists can now visualize a sequence of events in a compelling way using the large palette of design options that Timeline Storyteller provides. The Customer Data and Analytics (CDnA) team at Microsoft enables strategic data insights that shape the entire organization, from high-level leadership policies to small product decisions. Both CDnA and the Power BI product have mutually benefited from a close relationship since the Power BI public preview in 2015. In fact, the early and ongoing input from this internal Microsoft team and its users has helped make Power BI the “enterprise ready”, robust, and feature-rich platform it is today. When we released the new Power BI service, Power BI Desktop, and Power BI Mobile on July 24, 2015, we knew we had an innovative business intelligence solution, but we didn’t expect to create such an inspiring community of data and reporting professionals. We are very excited to give you a preview of what each of our 18 amazing customers will show you during the Customer Story sessions at the Microsoft Data Insights Summit on June 12 – 13 in Seattle.
