The client needed to understand how they compare to where they were in the past. They wanted to invigorate the historical data to discover insights that can lead to a better future decision making. Fundamentally lacking a BI solution, the client had been relying on an external research company to produce reports on a half-yearly basis.
The long report creation process and hefty cost involved is hindering the benefit of the reports that client is hoping to get. As a result, they need a modern BI solution that allow them to run decisions in-house, in time and with full information self-service capability.
To enable information self-service we chose to use Power BI as a platform to integrate their on-prem data for developing time-based analysis. The solution is comprised of following sections:
The Current Month KPI - Focuses on tracking monthly performance and meeting imminent targets.
The Historical KPI – Focuses on longer term trends and period-over-period performance comparison.
Supplier Analysis – Analyses performances of suppliers based on geographical information and a several other KPIs.
Retail Store Heatmap – Visualises profitability of retail vendors and plot results on a custom made map. This section has capability to link to an IoT device to track volume of visitors and understand where the ‘heat-spots’ are in real-time.
