Announcing Datasets Hub (preview) to explore and analyze your business data
We’re excited to introduce a new datasets hub in the Power BI service and Power BI personal app in Teams. The datasets hub makes it easy to find, explore, and use the datasets in your organization. It provides information about the datasets as well as entry points for creating reports on top of those datasets or for using those datasets with Analyze in Excel.
Announcing new Admin APIs and Service Principal authentication to make for better tenant metadata scanning
The idea for this new functionality was born out of thinking about how to improve the efficiency and performance of the Power BI scan so that it could support large numbers of data assets while still conforming to the security practices of organizations.
Heads up: The ‘new look’ of the Power BI service begins rolling out soon
All the improvements of the ‘new look’, from navigation updates to the simplified action bar for reports and dashboards, begins rolling out next week and will be generally available to all tenants and users by early November. Thank you for your feedback during public preview as we made incremental updates to modernize and simplify the Power BI service.
Re-imagine headers and navigation in the Power BI Mobile apps
As Power BI becomes a key tool for decision makers, more and more content is being created and published for them. Being able to easily find that content, to navigate between related items, and to share relevant content with colleagues has become critical to making these users productive when using Power BI and the Power BI Mobile apps. In the last few months the team has being working on improving navigation in the Power BI mobile apps to make it easier for our users to understand their content hierarchy and to navigate between items quickly. We’ve also made it easier to share relevant content with colleagues.
Power BI Ideas site improvement updates
In the July blog post about the Ideas site, we published our plan to improve the Ideas website. Today we would like to share some of the progress as well as a roadmap for Ideas.

Power BI Ideas site updates
Since Power BI launched, we have been listening carefully across our different avenues of feedback to what you, our users, need added to the product. Our Ideas site has been the main place for you to leave suggestions. In July 2020 we migrated to a new platform using Dynamics 365 and Power Portals, and we heard from you about issues with the new site. Over the past year, we addressed many of those issues and have recently made a larger update to fix some major problems.

Power BI Desktop May Feature Summary
This month we have major updates across all areas of Power BI Desktop. Along with many other reporting features, we have our biggest update to conditional formatting in while, the ability to format any fields, including strings and dates, by a different field in the model.
