In the April release of Power BI Desktop we release a powerful feature called ‘quick measures’ that helps create DAX measures based on templates for common patterns and expressions. You can submit your common calculations that would be helpful for the rest of the community on our new Quick Measures Gallery. We’ll evaluate the DAX statement and may use it as the basis of a future quick measure – you can even get your name immortalized in Power BI Desktop!

You may remember that the “Bookmarking Feature” contest launched a few weeks ago to feature the recently updated bookmark feature in Power BI Desktop. We had so many amazing submissions that showcased your creativity as well as the functionality of the bookmark feature. Power BI Program Managers Will Thompson and Amanda Cofsky reviewed each entry and, with great difficulty, have narrowed down the winners!
Power BI Premium now supports uploading Power BI Desktop (.PBIX) files that are up to 10 GB in size – a x10 increase compared to before.
Today, I’m happy to announce that Esri is taking ArcGIS Maps for Power BI to the next level by introducing Plus, a subscription service available for purchase from Esri that allows everyday business users in Power BI to do more with their spatial data. What is Plus? In a word: More. More basemaps, more data points, more demographics, more reference layers. It’s a step in our journey to make GIS easy to understand and consume for regular business users. Plus is inspired by many of the feature requests you have made since we introduce ArcGIS Maps for Power BI.

Timeline Storyteller, a new custom visual for Power BI I created with a team of other researchers at Microsoft, is now available in the Office Store for anyone to use. Power BI is a powerful data storytelling tool, and with Timeline Storyteller, data journalists can now visualize a sequence of events in a compelling way using the large palette of design options that Timeline Storyteller provides. The new workspace experience is designed to enable enterprises to easily manage Power BI content at scale using security groups, distribution lists, and Office 365 Groups. Late last year as part of the December Power BI Desktop release, we launched a new connector for data.world – aka the social network for data nerds. data.world is a platform where people can find, use, share and collaborate with a vast array of high-quality open data.
We are very excited to give you a preview of what each of our 18 amazing customers will show you during the Customer Story sessions at the Microsoft Data Insights Summit on June 12 – 13 in Seattle. After much preparation, we’ve boiled down each presentation to 25 minutes with 5-10 minutes of every session focused on demos. We’ve made sure we have depth and breadth of customers across several industries like sports, finance, technology, media, and more with many different capabilities showcased, including Microsoft Power BI, Power BI Mobile, PowerApps, R, Azure Machine Learning, IoT, and more. We wanted to provide a quick look at what you can expect during the event!
