A large Norwegian municipality struggled with data stored in different data systems, with limited possibility of sharing data with users outside HR and Finance. Information sharing was handled by extracting data from the systems into Excel spreadsheets, which were passed around by e-mail. This was a tedious, time consuming and error prone solution.
Atea leveraged Power BI to integrate the different source systems, and added row level security for the model. With the security model in place, each team-lead and leader had access to all relevant information about their team and department. This reduced the amount of time spent on reporting significantly, time which now could be used to deliver better services to the public.
The report also has a security feature, which grants users access to data relevant for each user. All data are aggregated, so there is no exposure of details and nothing that could be used for identifying employees.
This solution can be adapted to most HR and Finance systems, and could be quickly implemented for most municipalities.
