Know your audience with per-user usage metrics
You asked, and we delivered. We announced that we’ve supercharged usage metrics by surfacing the names of your end users. This simple change has the potential to magnify your impact like never before. Now, you can understand exactly who your audience is, and reach out to your top users directly to gather asks and feedback. Learn more in our recent blog post
Get started faster with Power BI apps for online services
Earlier this year, we announced public preview of Power BI apps that allowed organizations to easily deploy a collection of purpose-built dashboards and reports to a large number of business users. This month, we added out-of-the-box Power BI apps that make it even easier for business users to easily monitor and analyze data from these popular online services – like Google Analytics, Workday and Marketo – in a few easy steps. These out-of-the-box apps are a great way to get started with Power BI. Try it out and let us know what you think! Learn more about service apps
iOS proxy settings support
You can now set proxy settings in the Power BI iOS mobile app. This means that Power BI will now work with VPN connections on your mobile device, allowing more users and organizations to securely leverage the power of Power BI on the go.
On-premises data gateway August update
Don’t miss the August 2017 update of the on-premises data gateway. This month’s gateway release is filled with enhancements. You can now connect to IBM Netezza via the gateway, through both import and DirectQuery connectivity modes. In addition, the updates leverage TLS 1.1/1.2 by default. Read about these changes, and more in the August gateways announcement post
Dynamic RLS for Power BI Embedded
This month, we announced that dynamic RLS is now supported for embedded reports using the “app owns credentials” flow. This highly requested option allows report authors to control what rows of data are accessible on a per-user granularity. As a reminder, dynamic RLS is already available in the Power BI service and for the “user owns credentials” embedding flows. Learn more about dynamic RLS in Power BI Embedded
Custom visuals improvements
This month, we’ve made a number of improvements to enable a richer development story for custom visuals. We released version 1.7 of the custom visuals API, enabling the much-anticipated advanced filtering API. In addition, we enabled interactivity, tooltips, selections and more on R custom visuals.
