Power BI February 2021 Feature Summary

Welcome to the first feature summary of 2021! This month, we have a couple of updates on ongoing previews, as well as a new color picker that features RGB color selector and a search bar to make discovery of features easier. Additionally, we are introducing new filter operations and enable subscriptions for reports and dashboards that have row-level security applied. Power BI September 2020 Feature Summary

Starting this month, we have merged the Power BI Desktop, Service and Mobile blogs so there is one overview of everything that is new in this month. For now, let us get started because we have exciting updates this month! Amongst others, in the analytics area, we introduce a preview of the Smart narratives visual which helps you quickly summarize visuals and reports by providing relevant out-of-the-box insights which is customizable. On the reporting side, several things are added, including the introduction of controls for the z-order of visuals, and searching for a workspace during publish. For modeling, the enhanced dataset metadata that was previously in preview is now generally available. In the service, we introduce new capabilities in the lineage view and updates to analyze in Excel. Check out the full blog to learn more about all the updates and enhancements.

Re-imagine headers and navigation in the Power BI Mobile apps

As Power BI becomes a key tool for decision makers, more and more content is being created and published for them. Being able to easily find that content, to navigate between related items, and to share relevant content with colleagues has become critical to making these users productive when using Power BI and the Power BI Mobile apps. In the last few months the team has being working on improving navigation in the Power BI mobile apps to make it easier for our users to understand their content hierarchy and to navigate between items quickly. We’ve also made it easier to share relevant content with colleagues.

The theme you’ve been waiting for – Dark mode comes to the Power BI iOS app

In this week’s release we’ve added dark mode support to the Power BI iOS app. Power BI Mobile users know that we’re always working to improve our apps and looking for ways to provide our users the best, most delightful, and enjoyable experience possible. And enabling dark mode is one of those things that we know you’re going to love!
