Detect upload of sensitive information to Power BI using Microsoft 365 data loss prevention policies

Today we’re happy to announce that we’re extending Microsoft 365 DLP policies for Power BI to support detection of uploading sensitive information such as social security and credit card numbers, leveraging Microsoft’s built-in sensitive information types and/or custom information types defined by your organization in the Microsoft 365 compliance center.

Announcing: Now organizations can require users to set MIP sensitivity labels in Power BI (Preview)

Today I’m happy to announce a preview of our new mandatory label policy setting. The mandatory label policy setting requires users to apply MIP labels when they create new content, edit unlabeled content in the Power BI service, or upload unlabeled PBIX files \via Publish from Desktop or Get data in the Power BI service

Announcing Power BI inheritance of MIP labels from Azure Synapse Analytics (Public Preview)

Announcing Power BI data protection GA and introducing new capabilities

Announcing new data protection capabilities in Power BI

We are excited to announce new data protection capabilities in Power BI that build on Microsoft’s strengths in security and enable customers to empower every user with Power BI and better protect their data no matter how or where it is accessed. Classify and label sensitive Power BI data using the familiar Microsoft Information Protection sensitivity labels used in Office. Enforce governance policies even when Power BI content is exported to Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF, to help ensure data is protected even when it leaves Power BI. Monitor and protect user activity on sensitive data in real time with alerts, session monitoring, and risk remediation using Microsoft Cloud App Security. Empower security administrators who use data protection reports and security investigation capabilities with Microsoft Cloud App Security to enhance organizational oversight.
