Visualizing data from Couchbase Server v4 using Power BI

Headshot of article author Miguel Llopis

Power BI provides connectivity to a wide range of data sources, with over 70 different out-of-the-box connectors to lots of different databases, cloud & online services, files and other types of sources.

In addition to these connectors for specific sources, Power BI provides different alternatives to connect to many other data sources via generic interfaces, namely ODBC and JSON.

A great example of a data source that can be leveraged via the JSON interface in Power BI Desktop is Couchbase Server. Couchbase Server is a distributed NoSQL database engineered for performance, scalability, and availability. It enables developers to build applications easier and faster by leveraging the power of SQL with the flexibility of JSON.

In this blog post, Cihan Biyikoglu (Director of Product Management at Couchbase), demonstrates how easy it is to make Power BI Desktop directly talk to Couchbase Server and report on the data. No ODBC or JDBC driver required!
