Power BI Embedded capacity-based SKUs coming to Azure

Power BI Embedded is intended to simplify how ISVs and developers use Power BI capabilities, helping them quickly add stunning visuals, reports and dashboards into their apps – in the same way apps built on Azure leverage services like Machine Learning and IoT. By enabling easy-to-navigate data exploration in their apps, ISVs allow their customers to make quick, informed decisions in context.

Power BI at Ignite 2017: announcing enterprise-ready capabilities for establishing data culture at scale

Power BI has quickly become the platform of choice for enterprises that want to establish a “data culture” to run their organizations on data-driven decisions. This week at Microsoft Ignite we will showcase how organizations from across the globe have used Power BI to get the most of their data. We are also really excited to announce a wealth of new features and capabilities that will help enterprises to achieve even more with their data. It’s going to be a great fall season!

Power BI in action: using custom connectors

Power BI User groups (PUG) are groups for great people like you (yes, you reading this!) to get together with other awesome people to talk, discuss, and share experiences, questions, and more around Power BI. These groups can have live or virtual meetings so you can choose how to engage or contribute in a way that fits your schedule. In celebration of the start of the Power BI World Tour, and thanks to the new Power BI custom connectors, I was able to create my own custom connector, get the data from the PUGs that I found on meetup.com, create a really simple data model, and then create the report included in this post. Congratulations to the winners of the What If contest!

A few weeks ago we launched a “What If” contest to promote the release of our new What If feature in Power BI Desktop. Many of you were anticipating this feature for a while now, and we wanted to celebrate its arrival in style! We received a number of amazing submissions that showed off the creativity and flexibility that What If offers data analysts and report-makers. Each entry was reviewed by Power BI Program Managers Will Thompson and Amanda Cofsky, and they had such a difficult time deciding on a winner that we created two categories of winners: Fun and Business. How user feedback influences Microsoft Business Application development

Internally, Microsoft runs every aspect of the company using data. We refer to this as our “Data Culture”. As the leader of business intelligence and analytics for James Phillips, the Corporate Vice President who leads the Business Applications Group, I am often asked why and how we manage user feedback. With this post, I would like to share our practices around collecting and using data to accelerate development of business applications like Power BI, Power Apps, Microsoft Flow and the range of Dynamics 365 products.
