Connect with the Microsoft product team in Amsterdam at Power Summit

In addition to the 20 tracks lead by the community, technical experts and Industry luminaries presenting at the upcoming Power Platform Summit in Amsterdam, the Microsoft Team will be there in full force presenting the Microsoft Power Series track– over 15 hours of deep dive and hands on content.  These sessions are included in both the  Power Platform Summit and Dynamics User Group Summit Europe conference passes and give you the unique opportunity to learn from the source and gain a view into the future of these products.

If you are not familiar Power Platform Summit Europe, 27-29 March 2019! This conference will be held at the RAI Amsterdam located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Getting Hands On and going deep with Microsoft Data Flows

Anton Fritz is an experienced program manager, nowadays focused on delivering innovative problem detection capabilities in cloud applications and infrastructure monitoring domain, leveraging machine learning and data mining technologies. Before coming to the Power BI team Anton worked on the Azure Monitoring team, working on advanced detection and diagnostics capabilities powered by ML algorithms for monitoring hybrid workload environments.

Mahesh Prakriya is a Group Progam Manager, Dynamics 365 at Microsoft.  An experienced engineering leader with focus on metrics/data driven results and P&L. Shipped databases, operating systems, applications, services and data platforms/analytics with a focus towardsbuilding great teams, efficiency/agility/focus and fun.

 

Power BI Administration & Performance Tuning Deep Dive

Description: Need to come up to speed fast on the administration and want to get a grounding in Power BI Performance Tuning for Power BI? Then this all day course is for you!

In this Hands on Session, Charles & Bhavik are going to walk through the Microsoft Power BI administration and the management of a Power BI tenant, including the configuration of tenant settings, usage monitoring, and provisioning of licenses, and other organizational resources. This session covers the typical admin tasks and tools, such as Power BI admin portal and Office 365 admin center, and how to automate them by using administrative APIs and PowerShell cmdlets.  Specific Hands on labs around  using capacities in Power BI, safely sharing Power BI assets and finally using different tools to optimize your Power BI Usage.

Presenter: Bhavik Merchant and Charles Sterling | Senior Program Manager at Microsoft

Bhavik Merchant I work at Microsoft as a Senior Program Manager within the Power BI Engineering team. I’m responsible for shipping relevant and timely features to make the platform better and increase user adoption.  Prior to that I was a Cloud Solution Architect (Data Platform, BI, Advanced Analytics) at Microsoft Australia. That role focused on helping large clients modernise and better leverage their investments in any data, analytics and visualization technologies. On-premises, in the cloud or hybrid deployments.

Charles Sterling (Chuck) came to Microsoft from being a marine biologist working for United States National Marine Fisheries doing marine mammal research on the Bering Sea. He started out at Microsoft supporting Excel and moved through a couple of support teams to being an escalation engineer for Microsoft SQL Server. Taking his love for customers (and diving), Chuck moved to Australia as a product manager and developer evangelist for the .NET Framework. In 2008 he moved back to Redmond as the Visual Studio team as a program manager and recently moved to the Power BI team to continue his community passion and looking after the Power BI influencers and MVPs.

Deep Dive into Power BI Embedded

Debugging common DAX and Model performance issues

Description: In this session, we will explore real world DAX and Model performance scenarios.  These scenarios range from memory pressure to high CPU load. Once we identify them using the monitoring tools, watch as we will dive into the model and improve performance by going through concrete examples. Will it be fixed by optimizing the DAX statement or by making changes to the model? Come watch to find out!

Presenters: Kasper de Jonge and David Magar Programs Manager at Microsoft

Kasper de Jonge is a principal program manager on the Business Applications team at Microsoft, where he has worked developing features for Power Pivot and other Analysis Services products such as the Tabular model and Multidimensional cubes. He is a frequent speaker at conferences, and is the creator of http://www.PowerPivotBlog.com, one of the leading Power Pivot websites

David Magar is a seasoned Program Manager with extensive experience in cloud application delivery in the BI space as well as Infrastructure and consumer services. He currently leads the improvements in Power BI Premium capacities.

Specifically gain familiarity with Power BI report layouts and structure the agile process to creating Power BI data visualizations. Sujata Narayana, a data nerd at heart, joined Microsoft’s User Analytics team in 2016 and is now a Program Manager on the Power BI Desktop team.

She is currently focused on Power BI’s end-user experiences, such as ad-hoc exploration and new filtering experience. Sujata strives to democratize analytics by making it easy for data consumers to understand their data to unlock powerful insights.

Collaboration features in Power BI Service

Description: Program Manager Nikhil Gaekwad hosts this amazing tour of the collaboration features in Power BI Service and how best to take advantage of them. In this informal demo laden roller coaster session Nikhil will demo features like the all new Comments, Power BI Home, Search questions and secure embedding to extend the reach of your data insights content. If you haven’t looked at it, the improved Power BI home navigation experience makes it easy to monitor and analyze your key business metrics. The Power BI Home landing page and our new Global Search feature in the Power BI service provide a one-stop shop for all your Power BI content and a quicker way to dive into your insights. One of the best parts is the new Power BI Home automatically surface your most important content and let you search for it in a single page!  Additionally, Power BI Program Manager Nikhil Gaekwad will look at how you can directly add comments to dashboards and specific visuals to discuss your data.  You can also pull people into your conversation by @mentioning others within your organization. Commenting is tightly integrated with Power Bi mobile, so those you’ve @mentioned will quickly receive a notification and email with your message.

BIO: Nikhil Gaekwad is a Product Manager on the Power BI service team at Microsoft. His journey at the company started off in 2015 on the Windows Wireless team, where he spent two years envisioning, building, and shipping features in the Wi-Fi and IoT space to millions of customers around the world. He has always had a strong passion for working with data and transforming it into actionable business insights. With an aspiration to be influential in the Business Intelligence community, Nikhil joined Power BI in 2017. Most of you will already recognize him from the recent blogs, videos, and presentations from many conferences.

Presenters: Bryony Wolf, Product Marketing Manager

BIO: Bryony is currently the UK Product Marketing Lead for the Power Platform (PowerApps, PowerBI & Flow) and the Program lead for the UK Dynamics 365 Digital Skills Program.  She joined Microsoft in 2017, after completing her MBA at the University of Cambridge, initially with a Partner focus prior to moving into her current role. Bryony’s prior experience has seen her as a dual qualified SA attorney and UK Solicitor, within private and public law Litigation and International Residential Development.

 

AI in Power BI Service: Data Flow and Machine Learning

Learn about the integration of Machine Learning in the Power BI Service. This feature has been added recently to Power BI service. In this session, first, some concepts regarding machine learning and AI will be provided. For instance, the audience will learn what is Classification, Regression, Clustering, and Forecasting will be presented. Next, how we able to get data in Data Flow in Power BI service from blob storage, how to use Data Flow to clean the data, then how to apply machine learning to cleaned data will be provided.

She worked in Industries including banking financial, power and utility, manufacturing … She is a lecturer and trainer in Business intelligence and data base design course in University of Auckland.
