Narratives for Power BI, the free custom visual for Power BI that automatically generates rich-descriptive narrative summaries for your data has new features available. With the Narrative Science custom visual, your data is automatically transformed into natural language insights. In just the past few weeks, Power BI users have generated thousands of stories using Narratives for Power BI. Instead of relying only on traditional data visualizations to interpret data or explain their analysis to others, Narratives for Power BI automates advanced analysis to unearth relationships not obvious when looking at data and charts alone – and delivers these insights in a narrative form that’s easier to understand, share, and publish. Combining Power BI’s data connectivity and visualization capabilities with the rich descriptions from Narratives for Power BI can empower more people to understand data and make better decisions.
With this update, Narratives for Power BI includes new capabilities that allow you to:
- Automatically draw insights from scatterplots: Narratives for Power BI now supports scatter plots and has the ability to insightfully explain relationships between measures, clusters of entities, and outliers.
- Derive deeper insights from visualizations that have multiple dimensions: For all your multi-dimensional bar, column and tree map charts, the narratives now discuss the data across secondary dimensions in addition to primary dimensions, giving you additional insight into data that is often difficult to see visually.
If you already downloaded Narratives for Power BI, you will immediately experience these features. To try out Narratives for Power BI yourself, download the custom visual from Narrative Science, add the “Narratives” custom visual to your report, and choose the values and dimensions you’d like to learn about.
