Since our launch over five years ago, Microsoft Power BI has been enthusiastically adopted by developers across the spectrum. Today we have over three million active developers on Power BI—who harness the power of data, provide actionable insights, and deliver cloud-native intelligent experiences. Today, over 15,000 independent software vendors (ISVs) and enterprise customers use Power BI’s embedded APIs to build analytic experiences into their applications. At Microsoft Build, we are delighted to celebrate our developers and share some exciting updates for our next generation of developer experiences.
» 阅读更多内容 The volume of data is growing at an ever-increasing rate. As it grows, so does the value to the companies that are able to unlock insights from it. Power BI is all about helping organizations embrace a data culture, where every user can make better decisions based on data big and small, no matter where that data is coming from Providing users a way to do analysis over large volumes of data has traditionally been challenging. Large volumes require extra compute power and specialized skills to effectively model and analyze. To unblock users, organizations have often relied on transforming big datasets into smaller, more manageable datasets, which can then be analyzed using traditional BI reporting and visualization tools. When data is transformed from big to small, the details of the data tend to get lost as dimensionality is traded away for size and performance. While insights are lost, management complexity and costs grow as development teams work to populate these multiple smaller datasets.

» 阅读更多内容 This month’s update for Power BI Desktop filled with both small and large improvements across the entire product. One huge update is support in the Power BI service for both our composite model and aggregation previews. This really enables you to start using these preview features end-to-end for your normal reports. We also have two significant data prep features this month as well: fuzzy matching capabilities when merging queries and data profiling to help identify quality issues.
» 阅读更多内容 We are very excited to announce that as part of our September update, we have a preview of aggregations, which allows you to seamlessly store only summarized values in memory without having to load your entire dataset into Power BI, greatly improving the performance of your reports. This month also includes a preview of a PDF file connector, which is the most requested connector on UserVoice; and one of our biggest updates to our advanced query editor in quite a while, M intellisense.
