Power BI November 2024 Feature Summary

Welcome to the November 2024 update. We’re thrilled to introduce Copilot in Power BI Mobile apps, bringing AI to your fingertips for a smarter, faster way to explore data on the go. This month’s update also includes a new Path layer for the Azure Map visual, making geospatial analysis even more powerful by helping you easily map connections between multiple locations. We’re also introducing the OneLake catalog, the latest evolution of the OneLake data hub, offers a unified platform for data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and decision-makers to browse, manage, and govern data seamlessly—all from one intuitive interface.

Power BI solution templates: Federal retention and graduation outcomes disclosures

All post-secondary institutions receiving federal funds are required to meet federal retention and graduation reporting requirements as mandated by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) and outlined in the National Postsecondary Education Cooperative (NPEC)’s “Information Required to Be Disclosed Under the Higher Education Act of 1965: Suggestions for Dissemination”. Meeting these requirements can be an arduous and tedious task for many institutions — that is, prior to Power BI.

Higher Education Analytics using Power BI #1: Retention

Partnering with Stetson University, I am happy to share the first of many Power BI Higher Education Analytics solutions. This solution shows student persistence, retention, and graduation patterns, leveraging a Student Information System (SIS) as the data source. Year-over-over retention and graduation rates can be filtered to allow deeper examination of trends at the college and major level. Additional views, including retention and graduation rate tables by major and ethnicity, are included within the report solution.
