This report provides an analysis of accidents on the M25 motorway around London from 2012 to 2014. It is based on Open Data published by the Department of Transport.
On the first page, the column charts provide a breakdown of the accidents by hour of the day, day of the week and speed limit. An area chart shows over time, the number of accidents, vehicles and casualties by month over the three years. The calendar visual below shows the number of accidents each day of the year. The darker the shade of blue, the more accidents occurred that day. The Treemap visual breaks down the accidents by the Police Force covering that stretch of the motorway.
The accidents on the map are based on a hierarchy and can be drilled up and down from Local Authority through area to individual accidents. They are colour coded based on accident severity. The larger the circle, the higher the number of accidents in that area.The second page of the report breaks down the accidents further, by Age and Gender, Age and Severity, Make of Vehicle, Weather Conditions when the accident occurred and the Location of the accident in relation to a junction.
