New authentication type support for Azure SQL DB and Azure Synapse
We have added the option to connect to both Azure SQL Database and Azure Synapse using Azure AD Multi-Factor Authentication to match the authentication support we have in the Power BI service.
Common Data Service data source support
For the first time, we now offer direct connectivity to the Common Data Service with paginated reports through the SQL data connection. With this support comes the ability to use the native relational query designer for SQL in the product. This allows you to create your queries against CDS just like you would when using any SQL data source.
Improved multi-value parameters support for DAX
When building DAX queries for a report with multi-value parameter from a Power BI dataset, users often would run into issues if they had too many parameter values and bump up against the maximum length of a query.
With this release, we’ve changed how we handle this in product and most users should no longer see this error when using Power BI Datasets or Azure Analysis Services as their data source.
Improved parameter dropdowns in Power BI
We have addressed couple of usability issues related to parameter dropdowns. Now the dropdown options are auto expanded to fit the largest item so you can read the entire value and not have to rely solely on the tooltip. We also open the dropdown to selected value by default, so you don’t have to scroll through a long list of values to get to the selected item.
We hope you’re as excited about these changes as we are. Be sure to leave your feedback in the comments below, and feel free to submit your feature ideas .
