Unlocking new self-service BI scenarios with ExecuteQueries support in Power Automate

As part of our GA work for the ExecuteQueries REST API, we delivered a new Power Automate action to run queries against Power BI datasets. This action delivers a straightforward low-code/no-code experience to BI users who want to streamline repetitive, mundane tasks and processes. The purpose of this blog post is to help you get started running queries against datasets in Power Automate. It covers exporting data into csv files, building a solution to test datasets, and creating BI-driven cloud flows.

Announcing the public preview of Power BI REST API support for DAX Queries

We are very excited to announce the public preview of a new REST API to query datasets in Power BI by using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX). Among other things, this new DAX REST API helps to address customer feedback concerning programmatic access to the data in a dataset (for example, the idea REST API access to READ datasets with almost 500 votes by the time of this announcement). The new DAX REST API avoids dependencies on Analysis Services client libraries, requires no connection to XMLA endpoints, and works in Power BI Premium as well as in Power BI shared capacity

Community and third-party tools for developing enterprise-level Power BI and Analysis Services models

Over the past few years, along with the high adoption rate of Power BI, also came the development of new tools by the Power BI community. Customers, partners, and individual users are contributing tools that improve the productivity of users creating models and reports in Power BI. It’s an evolution of a trend that started several years ago with tools that support developers using Analysis Services as a backend platform for their enterprise Business Intelligence solutions.

Power BI Desktop May 2020 Feature Summary

We have lots of great updates this release! We’re super excited to announce this month that both the decomposition tree and drill through button actions are now generally available. On top of this, we have several new features and updates that will really enrich your reporting: curate featured tables for Excel, new Apply button for the filter pane to apply all changes at once, enhancements to change detection and page navigation action, support for images in buttons, and more!

Power BI Desktop March 2020 Feature Summary
