We have several highly-requested features in this month’s release, including textbox font color, several visual improvements, and previews of three highly requested features: report theming, a new matrix visual with major experience updates, and a numeric range slicer.

» Lue lisääWe have an exciting release of the Power BI Desktop this month. It includes several formatting features that have been top asks and new Quick Calcs for your measures. We also have several updates to data connectors and two new query editing options.
» Lue lisääWe have a very special new member to the custom visuals gallery: the Dual KPI. Dual KPI efficiently visualizes two measures over time. It shows their trend based on a joint timeline, while absolute values may use different scales. The reason this visualization is special is because we use it at Microsoft in executive dashboards to monitor usage and user satisfaction for each product, or when an executive wants to keep an eye on two KPIs at the same time (for example Profit and Market share or Sales and Profit).

So, today we are excited to announce the new Power BI Content Pack for Azure Active Directory.
» Lue lisääIt has been a few months since we released the new developer tools and custom visuals APIs, and we are working to add more APIs to help you develop the best custom visuals possible. On that note, we are excited to announce that version 1.4 was just released, introducing localization support, so now custom visuals are aware of the locale, and can localize the content of the visual accordingly. » Lue lisääHappy New Year! Today is our first Desktop update of the year. With this new year, we have a new release cadence as well. We are going to be releasing earlier in the month going forward. This month has several exciting improvements for tables and matrix and several connector improvements as well.

Over the course of our 11 releases this year, we’ve released over 190 features and improvements based on the feedback that you’ve given us throughout the year. For December, we are taking a break from our monthly releases to focus on quality and we’ll be back early in the new year with a brand-new Desktop release. So instead of our typical monthly blog post, we’re looking back at the past year, recapping several of our favorite features, and taking a look at our big focus areas from this past year.
