E-Mail Subscriptions for Paginated Reports is Now Available

Headshot of article author Christopher Finlan

E-mail subscriptions is one of the key features used by millions of SQL Server Reporting Services customers today. Our latest release for “New Feature Friday” is the support of Paginated Reports in e-mail subscriptions in Power BI. Now, for the first time, you can schedule an e-mail subscription with a PDF attachment of your full paginated report in the Power BI service.

To get started, head to one of your paginated reports in Power BI Premium and click on the “Subscribe” button in the toolbar

You’re able to then set the subscription frequency, body, and header for your e-mail subscriptions just as you would for any of your Power BI dashboards or reports in the service. Once saved, you will receive an e-mail in your inbox at the chosen time with a PDF attachment of the full paginated report. In an update in the coming weeks, you’ll also have the ability to select from several additional output formats for your attachment, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel amongst others.

Today, reports without parameter values are supported. Support for subscriptions with default report parameter values will be enabled over the next week in your tenant. The ability to set parameter values for each report subscription you create is planned in the next month or so, so continue to check back for additional updates when we announce that capability.

To learn more about what’s currently supported for Paginated Reports e-mail subscriptions, make sure you read the supporting documentation.

Next week we’ll have at least one major feature announcement and potentially two, so leave us your feedback in the comments below.

Thanks and have a great weekend!
