Power BI November 2024 Feature Summary

Welcome to the November 2024 update. We’re thrilled to introduce Copilot in Power BI Mobile apps, bringing AI to your fingertips for a smarter, faster way to explore data on the go. This month’s update also includes a new Path layer for the Azure Map visual, making geospatial analysis even more powerful by helping you easily map connections between multiple locations. We’re also introducing the OneLake catalog, the latest evolution of the OneLake data hub, offers a unified platform for data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and decision-makers to browse, manage, and govern data seamlessly—all from one intuitive interface.

Welcome to the Power BI December 2023 update. We’ve got a lot of great features this month. Here are some key highlights: Learn how you can skill up and get ready for the upcoming Fabric Analytics Engineer certification with the Cloud Skills Challenge. Join us at the first annual Microsoft Fabric Community Conference (Mar 26-28 2024)  We’ve made lots of improvement for reporting, for example there are many more options for styling your column and bar charts. If you are a fan of our PowerPoint add-in, you’ll be happy to know we’ve made it easier to find and insert Power BI content into your PowerPoint presentations. Developers can now handle with git merge conflicts directly in the workspace.

Deep dive into DAX query view and writing DAX queries

In November 2023 release we added a new fourth view in public preview to Power BI Desktop, the DAX query view! The DAX query view gives you the ability to write, edit, and see the results of Data Analysis Expressions or DAX queries on your semantic model. Finally, you can now take advantage of the existing DAX queries syntax while working with your semantic model without leaving Power BI Desktop.

Introducing Explore (Public Preview)

Introducing the public preview of the new Explore feature, where users have a lightweight and focused experience to explore their data. Similar to exporting and building a PivotTable in Excel, now, directly within Power BI users can quickly launch Explore to begin creating a matrix/visual pair to get the answers they need without all the distractions and extra complexity of reports.

Empower Power BI users with Microsoft Fabric and Copilot

Datasets renamed to semantic models

Datasets are being renamed to semantic models in Power BI and Fabric. This will make the product clearer and more usable and reflects the immense progress that Power BI datasets have made in becoming an enterprise-grade semantic modeling technology. The semantic model name will help drive awareness of the unparalleled capabilities provided.
