Today, we’re announcing changes to our pricing for Microsoft Power BI Pro and Premium Per User (PPU) licenses—this represents the first pricing update since we launched Power BI nearly 10 years ago.
Starting April 1, 2025, Power BI Pro licenses will be USD14 per user per month, and PPU licenses will be USD24 per user per month.
These increases will apply globally to new and existing commercial customers (upon renewal as of April 1, 2025), and the products will be priced comparably in other currencies.
A decade of innovation
Since we first launched Power BI in July 2015, our mission has been to transform how organizations share data-driven insights and enable business users to analyze and visualize their data.
Over the years, Power BI has evolved into a unified platform enabling both self-service analytics and enterprise business intelligence (BI) for more than 350,000 organizations and more than 6.5 million developers. Today, major analyst firms globally recognize Power BI as a leader in BI platforms, applauding its innovation, ease of use, and the strength of its community.
In the last six years alone, we’ve launched more than 1,500 updates across our Power BI portfolio. We continue to listen to our partners and customers and implement new enhancements every month.

Power BI licensing overview
Power BI Pro: Introduced in 2015, this flexible per-user license allows users to create, share, and collaborate on data visualizations and reports seamlessly. We have introduced several hundred updates since its launch, including advanced AI-powered features, enterprise grade security, connectivity to more than 100 data sources, and native integration with various productivity tools. And, we continue to add several innovations to the product monthly.
Power BI Premium Per User (PPU):Launched in April 2021, this licensing option includes all the capabilities of Power BI Pro as well as access to premium features such as access to large model sizes, and more frequent refresh rates per semantic model. Charged on a per-user basis, this license provides a flexible and cost-effective option for customers.
We also offer two additional ways to license Power BI.
Power BI embedded: Billed by capacity usage, this allows ISVs to create, deploy, and manage applications with data visualizations.
Microsoft Fabric: Fabric provides a complete platform unifying data, analytics, and AI into a single, cohesive experience. Fabric is billed by a capacity-based licensing model (F SKUs). Learn more about Fabric pricing.
