Business Intelligence and Analytics become essential when managing the demands of large scale engineering operations. In this case a large data and voice service provider was faced with managing strict service level agreements (SLA) and demanding large enterprise and multi-national customers. A solution was provided to deliver increased visibility into average circuit design and install times, SLA performance, and work distribution.
Previously, static reports were distributed to hundreds of workers including executives, engineers, and support staff. These static reports were delivered weekly and could not be updated more frequently because of the time taken to export, reconcile, and format the data. This reporting process took an entire week and several analysts to produce before the beginning of a new cycle.
The resulting Power BI solution has had an enormous positive impact on operations of the company. Dashboards are updated in real-time, and the workload to compile and reproduce reports has been eliminated. Executives check for updates on their mobile devices and are able to quickly annotate and share information with their workgroups.
